That was a big tease! I wanted to see more. I'm sure the next shows are going to be awesome. Just goes to show there are alot of nice cars still out there.

I liked the part when he said it was a little old granny's car hence the robins egg blue color. Thats the biggest reason why I changed the color on my G. I think I'm gonna like this show. I hope he does a kick butt resto mod, but yet keep it sort of period. So Stacey hear this, NO CLOWN CAR WHEELS!!!!

You know, what IS going on with that. I see alot of goofy wheels put on these cars.

Gonna be a great series. Bet a lot of you wish you started with a car that clean. I started with a car that spent it's life in Arizona and it sure makes life easier. Really looking forward to up-coming showz............. Jim

I don't ever remember Stacey putting ridiculously large tires on a car. Trucks are a different story but I don't think you could ever go too large on a truck.

Here we go what a treat. I pop on to the forum after reading that Stacy was going to be doing a 67. In one motion I grab the remote and check my dvr recordings. Not only is it a gears episode but one with a 67 cougar. Wow. Pretty stock car. I mean really stock. Can't wait for the next episodes.

Headed down to TN tomorrow to do some taping, wish I could divulge what they are planning for this beast... Hint, think 600HP and 180 MPH! Here is what Stacey said today;

"The Cougar project debuted last week and the response was incredible. People are coming out of the woodwork saying how they always have loved these cars and are glad someone is finally doing one. The best part Don is they have no idea how Cool and Nasty this thing is really going to be!"

Don,

Do you think you could build a car like that and convince Stacy to use the 15" styled steel wheels? I can't think of many aftermarket rims that look good on a '67/68 Cougar.

Of course, the drawback of using 15" rims is the limitation of higher speed rated tires.

Truth is most of the "modified" cars today run newer aftermarket wheels. Personally I'm an "old schooler" and I love the look of the 15x10 inch Cragars but I'm not the majority for sure.

I don't mind some of the aftermarket wheels if they are choosen tastefully but in the case of these TV type shows it probably boils down alot to what their sponsors are willing to pony up. I imagine there are some options available but in the end I would expect to see a nice 18" wheel on this cat. 17s if we are lucky :)

I am a Resto-mod fan myself and I am looking forward to what Stacey does with this cat. As long as he doesn't put a bow tie under the hood I'm open ;)

Hey Don I hope the taping goes well. Really excited for you and WCC. Best o luck.

Mark

Well, I think we can all just about agree on the performance. The wheels not so much. I just hope they do it tastefully, because the wheels is a big part of the looks of the cougar which could make or break this car.

Don or Stacey, will a DVD be available of this project when it is done? Thanks

NASCAR was on in my area, on Speed, this last Saturday...
...I love Gearz! (loved Trucks, when he was the host). Stacy plays the guitar pretty well, also

I can't wait to see what he does to it. Finally someone shows thegorgeous cougar some love that it deserves.

Why drive a stang or maro when you can have a cougar....

Do you like these wheels? Sponsorship is not as big a factor on this build as some we have seen before. Stacey has always wanted a Cougar so he is building it the way he wants it...

I'm not an overhwleming fan of those wheels myself Don but I don't think they are ugly by any stretch. And when I try to think of a more modern or "sophisticated" wheel than a Cragar in all honesty I think those are pretty decent.

Tell you what.. you take the wheel soff the car and send them to Stacey and I'll see to disposing of the Cougar so it's not sitting in your yard with no wheels....

No, seriously :)

EDIT: Just putting in my 2 bits on the size. I do not have a problem with the size. Those look like 16s to me. Others may disagree but I dont mind them terribly.

For my taste, these rims look too large proportionately to the car.

If you must choose something other than the original Mercury styled steel wheel, I would at least keep to the 5 spoke design.

I agree with Spartikus and Boodieman. Attached are a couple of wheels that I found. The billet Kelsey Hayes Magstar style wheel isn't made anymore, I don't think. Cougars did race with Magstars on them at Sebring during the '67 Trans Am so there is a connection there. I like the new Cragar Eliminators (gotta like the name, at least). They are updated '65 Shelby style wheels.

Good luck Don, hope you finally get to wear those t-shirts on T.V.!
