I recently had my lower dash painted and when it was reinstalled, the wiring was put together wrong, so now the car won't start. I hooked up the tach (as I now know I must) and it still wont start. Also, the wiring from the tilt-away is not plugged into anything. Does anyone know of how to access a diagram online? Especially one that shows wiring colors for the electrically-challenged like myself? The shop manual does not appear to have any color-coded diagramin it. Thanx- joe

The tilt steering has an ignition interlock built into it. If the wiring is not connected, the car wont start.

You should be able to start the car by putting the key into the run position and placing a jumper from the positive terminal of the battery to the post on the starter solenoid that is closest to the battery. Once the car starts, remove the jumper to disengage the starter.

Thanks for the diagram and it helped. I plugged in the tach. The wiring that was supposed to be going to the tach was mistakenly plugged into what appears to be the actautor for the tilt-away wheel which is positioned to the right of the steering column behind the ignition switch. Those wires are now disconnected. I assume the previous responder was refering to this when he said it still won't start without the tilt wheel being plugged in. Problem is I can't find a free two prong male/female pug from the harness that plugs into this tilt-away actuator, and the diagrams don't seem to show the tilt-away option. The wires are red with blue stripe. Again, the car will turn over but not start. I can jump to starter to move it but will eventually have to fix this. The exterior lights and dash instruments work, but the fan/heater controld don't turn on, nor do the interior lights. Any additional ideas? Thanks so much for the help so far!- joe.
