I was wondering how to check the operation of the vacuum canister for the operation of the a/c blend doors. I assume since I have vacuum going into the canister at idle, I should have vacuum coming out, I do not. Does anybody know how to check to see if it is working correctly?

With the engine running remove the small vacuum hose from the tank, the engine should speed up slightly. Put your finger over the small port into the tank should be able to feel the vacuum and the engine should change speed. If you don't feel the vacuum or the engine has not changed speed at all check the vacuum check valve tank side for vacuum. If vacuum is there then the tank could have rust inside that blocks the ports when vacuum is applied.

If vacuum is at the small port on the tank then there is a problem inside the car. AC selector could be leaking or plugged.

Thanks for the responses. I figured that was the correct way to check it, but wasn't positive. I must have a bad canister, vacuum going in, nothing coming out. I actually hooked up a vacuum pump to the inlet side with the outlet line off and it held pressure, not good. Thanks again.

Bry,

You might try blowing compressed air (limit it to say 25 PSI) through each of the ports, maybe the internal check valve is hung up, compressed ait might free it.
