Anyone able to tell me why we have an LS emblem on our grille and not a XR7 like CougarKitty's?

Ford does some weird rebadging when it imports cars into a local market.

Either that or the XR7 badge was so rare in SA that someone stole it and the previous owner replaced it with something he could get from local junk / breaker/ wreckers yard

BTW - what did they badge the V8 Sierra - was it badges as XR something?

V8 Sierra's are Australian are'nt they, XR8's, at one stage there were 4 in South Africa, our Sierra is a V6, an XR6 Sierra is 3L, ours is 2.3L, our Escort could be an XR3, just need a few more XR's to complete the sequence. The XR6 was a plastic silver script in older cars and a decal thing on the newer models.
I would have thought the L part of LS stood for Lincoln, Lincoln Series, Stable, Somethinglikethat. I don't think them exported this car, more like it was imported by someone, before our exchange rate went sky high.

V8 Sierras were a South African specialist build by a Ford performance offshoot. We have V8 Falcons in Oz.

LS has been used as a designation by a range of car companies including GM, Ford and Lada - I think it stood for Luxury Sport
