Anyone have a recommendation for good quality OEM or aftermarket (complete) weatherstripping?
I see that west coast classic has all kinds of stuff, seems that everytime i google something about cougar/merk, It always sends me there. Was wondering about other places to shop around...
thx:sun2:

Metro is a well known name. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-1968-FORD-MERCURY-COUGAR-5-PC-WEATHER-SEAL-KIT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem35a198006fQQitemZ230344360047QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

I am a seller of Cougar weatherstriping. The only companies that I buy from are Carpenter and Repops. These 2 companies make almost all the Cougar weatherstrips that are available. Metro may make some things although most of that is for later models as I recall. Carpenter and Repops both stand behind their products. The few problems that I have had were quickly taken care of by the company.

Hi Randy (or Don if you are checking),

Been a long time - I got some door panels from you years ago.

Anyway, as a side note to this thread - I got a complete 69 kit from Repop and everything worked great except for the rear seat side panel interior chrome trim piece (the part that is on the inside vinyl panel under the 1/4 window.) The repro chrome piece is almost straight while the original has a curve that follows the vinyl panel. It seems to stiff/fragile to pound into shape without damaging - have you seen this before?

I am considering trying to figure out a way to just re-felt the original chrome strips because I can't see the ones that I have working at all.

Any better options out there?

Thanks.

They actually do work. just not perfect like you noted. I know it's not perfect and you would but no one else notices. It was just one more battle I decided not to fight.

I bought a set from repops for the 67-68 Cougar. Used everything except quarter panel trim. The inside rear quarter panel trim was made for a Mustang. The area where one of the staples attach the trim was removed for the Mustang config. Have they fixed this problem yet?

I believe Metro has recently started to make Mustang and Cougar weatherstriping. Their ad states that its made in the USA.

I quess one would have to compare quality. It's nice that there are more choices.
