So it begins.

I am looking for a 69 cougar convertible with the following:

Original paintcode being one of the green factory colors in GT or XR7 trim
Engine - 302, 351 or larger original engine
Transmission - Automatic original
Disc Brakes
Air Conditioning - Components in place
Power Steering Components in place
Prefer a cat with no major body work needed as a weekend driver so not in neighborhood for rust abatement.
Prefer the original wheels and drivetrain rear.

Pluses are electric windows and fully working A/C

Interested in restores, but not the modded ones. The power top should work as well.

This cat will be joining another in a garage for weekend driving in the Northeast US and will be a 3 season vehicle to alternate with another green cougar in the garage

Just so you know, there was no GT or 302 available in a convertible in either 69 or 70. The base engine was a 351 2V. There was a GT performance group in 69 but no badging designating it as a GT.

Good luck with your search. You probably should list a price range also so you don't get solicitations for $50K cars if you have a $5K budget.

Thanks for the advice, it's appreciated.

Price range is in the range up to $20k for a good candidate.

Also thanks for the clarification on the 302 clarification.

You're welcome. You should be able to get everything you're looking for, short of a 428 CJ, with that budget and it will be a nice car as well. Since you have a specific color requirement, it may take a bit longer but you will find what you want soon enough.

I've got a 69 xr7 vert, with cruise, green (lime poly), that's getting the engine rebuilt. 57K original mies. Letme know if you're interested.
