Has anyone used this site to<style type="text/css"> <!-- @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } --></style> decipher their vin code:
http://www.oldride.com/library/1968_mercury_cougar.html
I tried it with mine and it's all over the place. 8R91J521094. I get the 1st number 8 = 1968 91 = Cougar 2 Dr Hardtop Coupe, J = Los Angeles Assembly Plant, even though it is the 4th symbol and not the 2nd. My last 6 numbers are obviously the production squence, but my 2nd symbol = R, does not figure. Can anyone tell me what it means?

Ok, thanks for that.
Do you have a link for that info?
Obviously the link I have is not accurate.
I speak and read 'Cougar'. ;-) You might say that I am fluent.

Yes that link you had there is missing quite some information, and also have lots of wrong information, missing many engine codes, and those they had listed, only one of the codes is correct for Cougar.
