POR-15 Tank Sealers are moisture cured and will create a non-porous film barrier that won't crack, chip, or peel. Its impervious to all fuels, including the new Stage II fuels which have a high alcohol content.

Applying them is a three step process - clean - etch - apply. After that you'll need about four days for the sealer to cure completely. For best results buy one of our kits that includes everything you'll need. Pint seals up to a 14 gal. tank and a Quart seals up to a 28 gal. tank

Besides protecting against corrosion, POR-15 Tank Sealers do an excellent job of filling in any pinholes that may have developed in your tank.

Application
Your fuel tank should first be cleaned thoroughly with POR-15 MARINE=CLEAN to remove all foreign matter. Mix 1 quart MARINE=CLEAN with 1 quart hot water, put in tank for 24 hours and agitate frequently. Repeat process until tank is clean. Next, use POR-15 METAL-READY to etch inside surface of tank and to remove all rust. Next, rinse tank thoroughly with water several times to remove all remnant chemicals and dry. TANK MUST BE BONE DRY INSIDE BEFORE USING U.S. STANDARD FUEL TANK SEALER. Use a hair dryer or other blower to insure tank is completely dry before sealing.

Things to keep in mind:

You need to remove the tank before prepping an applying the coating.

Drop some chain or nuts and bolts into a tank when cleaning to help dislodge any tough corrosion.

Be absoltely sure that the tank is bone dry before applying the sealer.

Tank sealer is moisture cured and cannot be reused once applied to a tank.

Give the tank at least for days to cure before reinstalling.
