From a previous thread I started about swapping out my power top cylinders, there were many helpful comments/ideas. Of those ideas a few mentioned that Type F ATF should be used to refill the pump. In the Shop Manual for the Cougar it mentions TYPE A ATF to put in. Is a type A fluid still made? Where are members here pulling out the type F info from?

Any more info on this would be great as I am a day out or so out before I am ready for the refill.

Thank you in advance.

I recall reading that Type F was required in the owner's manual. I don't recall hearing of Type A, though I've seen Type FA quite a bit and used it with good results.

I have done this job and used type F. No problems and no leaks. I have two verts and each was rebuilt with Type F, 6 and 8 years ago.
