Hi all, haven't bothered you for a while so here's a question. My 67 289 - 2V does not have a transmission kick-down lever attached to the carb. Parts counter guys keep telling me it should. Doesn't the cable attached to the accelerator pedal and to the trans. linkage do the same thing??

Bruter-

Right now I'm swapping out my 68's 302 2v for a Cleveland, so I've discovered that the transmission linkage isn't the same on the two engines. The kickdown linkage on the 302 comes off of the gas pedal, whereas the kickdown linkage on the Cleveland comes off of the carburator. As far as I know the linkage on your 289 and my 302 should be the same, so nothing's wrong. :)

Yep - from the gas pedal linkage to the kickdown lever on the trans. the cable linkage between the two is adjustable.

kickdown

Yes it does have a cable coming off the throttle lever down by the trans. you can use this same cable on a 351 C. i've done this conversion myself.
