Quick question - my 1970 XR7 has leaked transmission fluid all over the garage floor. It is now completely empty. I need to add fluid in order to drive it to the mechanic to be fixed. Does anyone know what transmission fluid I need? I have a 351W with an FMX.

Also, it is probably not empty, from a refill capacity (11 US quarts / 9 1/4 imperial quarts) as the torque converter is still full.

Ford ATF fluid.don't get the Dextron or Mercron just the regular ATF fluid is all you need
ATF = Automatic Transmission Fluid, it´s all called ATF, the specs are called Dexron I, II, III etc for GM specs, Mercon and some numbers, letters etc for Ford specs, use ATF Type F on our old cats, or as simple as pulling out the dipstick and read what specs the ATF should have from there, the Type F fluid also have a Mercon designation for it
