(Originally posted in the old pictures forum titled "several pics of french convertible 69. ") A while back I promised a translation of Laurent's site...here is a summary. Laurent spent many long months searching in France, Belgium and Germany for "his car". He came across many seemingly shadydeals and characters before coming upon the 69 convertible. He comments that although the 69 is not among the biggest of american cars, it still
provokes many "neck injuries" in its travels. He then goes on to decode its VIN... 9F92S547970. He mentions that it is a "home office reserve" model and is fully optioned. It seems that it was mostly a promotional item and was rarely driven. In the latter portion of its history, it was a showroom display in a large garage in Paris. In 2000, it was sold to an educator (professor?) in Montpellier who then had to sell it because he was going
out of the country. Laurent purchased it recently (2001?) with only 39,000 original miles and in a suprisingly good state of repair. He plans to do some suspension and power steering work as well as an engine rebuild. It's Laurent's intention to restore the convertible to its original state. What suprised him most was its "driveability"... he can compare it to any modern ride.
