Just rebulit 69 351w xr7 2barrel...havent dialed in vaccums lines (perhaps problem)....but test drove car and have to maunally downshift automatic fmx in order for tranny to shift....why?

Three basic inputs are used to determine shift: throttle pressure (modulator), kickdown (linkage), and output speed (governor). Vacuum has to be connected to the intake manifold, throttle linkage has to be adjusted, and your speed will matter. I am assuming you are within the normal ****t down speeds so I would focus on linkage and vacuum.

ok....and thanks for input....only port on 2 barrel is/has been capped off...vaccum advance (?) has many branches......does anyone have various diagrams for 69 351w...brakes do NOT seem to work.....have to pump...plenlty of brake liquid in booster
