Hey there, finally got my 302 in my car and almost running. I've run into a few problems however (Who doesnt?) Anyway, i noticed the shifter was all messed up. To put the car in neutral you had to put it in reverse, So pretty much all the gears were off bu one, and I couldnt shift into 1st. Now I'm wondering could the linkage need readjusting due the fact the tranny was moved around a bit with the new engine going in? I cant think of anything elese, so I wanted to hear from you cats. Thanks in advance.

The answer to your question is "yes". The end of the linkage rod that connects to the shifter end, if it's like my 68 std., is adjustable. I loosen this connection, put the shifter in "Park", climb underneath (after carefully chocking wheels from movement both ways) shift the trans into "Park", and tighten the connection. I don't know of a simpler, more correct way, but this is what I do.

Ron.
