Does anyone know an estimate about how much it would cost to replace the front frame rails and torque boxes on a '68 cougar? I have the parts already I just need to know how much it would cost for someone to install them.

Thanks, Nate B

The answer depends on how far apart the car is at this point. Interior/no interior, engine/no engine, fenders/no fenders, etc.

That's a pretty tall order for a shop that wants quick and easy insurance money. It's a bunch of work - even for shops that specialize in resto's. Honestly it's one of those things that you can buy the equipment and get some training to do yourself and still be money ahead. Then you'll have a nice welder for those other projects!! ;>) OR it's one of those cars you walk away from if you haven't pulled the trigger yet. (Except if your name is ECI Bob! LOL) You'll have to contemplate what level you want to commit to - the rust is ALWAYS worse once you get into it....so go in knowing that.

While your at it - you may as well improve it: http://www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/2011/03/01/hmn_tips3.html

Amen to all of the above. We had to replace only the RH front frame rail and both aprons (kept the shock tower), as well as part of the frame extension going under the floor and this took pretty well a whole week. This allowed us to use the exisiting LH frame to make proper alignments. Add to this the torque boxes. Lotsa work!!!
Good luck.
