I'm looking seriously at getting a TKO 500 5 Speed for my 67, to replace the existing Top Loader 4 Speed. Thinking of reusing my existing bell housing, clutch, and linkage. Engine is a 462 FE, with Edelbrock heads, hydraulic roller cam, and headers. Looking for thoughts, suggestions, recommendations, etc. - any and all input welcome.

FE's and hydraulic roller cams are tough to make work. The FE valvetrain is heavy, the 1.7:1 rocker ratio means that you need extra stiff springs to counter all that reciprocating weight. I recommend that you consider a mechanical roller cam for longevity sake. Weight is the enemy, you may find titanium pushrods to be a very good thing if you insist on a hydraulic roller lifter.
