Had a new problem the other day, I was driving along and began to smell gas. Shortly afterward, the Cougar sputtered to a stop. After waiting a bit, I was able to restart and drive a less than a minute before repeating the same process. Luckily, I was close to home and able to make it after another cycle.

It definitely wasn't overheating and I am taking a wild ass guess that it the carb is flooding due to trash in the system or plain old wear.

So... its time to learn about carburetors. Anybody got any good links to educate a novice on carb operation and maintenace / rebuild?

Well Tex, Looks like yer puter tat is on the fritz.... ;>) Whatcha got for a carb? Motocraft 2V or 4V, aftermarket something or another? Mustang monthly has some real articles on how to's as does Car Craft/Hot Rod for aftermarket stuff if you go nosing around on those sites
