For some reason, probably vibration, the nut that attaches my throttle linkage at the carb came off yesterday. I went to the hardware store this morning to find another nut, but I couldn't find one that fit. The best I found was a 10-24. What size nut should I be looking for? The engine is a 289 4V.

10-24 would be a machine thread I think..... I'm thinking that one is SAE fine thread - size I can't remember - 5/16 perhaps? I'd try to find a self-locking one for sure

Like an idiot, I ended up forcing the 10-24 on... but I think I cross-threaded it as it was going on. It's on there pretty good, so I don't think I'll have any trouble with it. The carb was just rebuilt, so I shouldn't have to deal with this for a while. Next time I'm at the junk yard, I'll just look for another rod.
