Hello all! When I start my 69 Std, The temp gauge spikes to "H". When I shut down, it goes all the way down. What do you all think, Gauge or Sender?

Thanks,

David

replace the sender 1st then if it continues replace the gague, at least you know it`ll be fixed. The sending unit is 20.00 from MU. to me sounds like a bad temperature sending unit.
thanks

You might also want to check for a short in the harness between the sending unit and the gauge. Just turn the key on, and see what the gauge does.

Unplug the sender, the gauge needle shouldn't move. If it does, you either have a short in the harness or a bad gauge. If it pins when you plug the sender in, then sender is bad..Are the rest of your gauges working properly? If not ,then check the voltage regulater on the back of the gauge assy...Hope this helps..
