Last year we had a lot of fun, especially the BBQ in Rumsey, and we're going to do it again. Once again they moved the festival from late FEB to mid March. It looks like this move may be permanent.

Last year we met at the Esparto High School for their fund raising pancake breakfast (it's really good). We held our monthly meeting and then joined Golden Hills Mustang Club as we toured Esparto and then travel up the valley stopping for pictures, food and fun. We did the Rumsey BBQ and then drove up RT16 then east on RT20 out to Williams/RT5 and home.

The 2010 Almond Festival is the largest 5 town festival in Yolo County and possibly the Central Valley. The event takes place in the entire Yolo County Region west of I-505 and has a local and regional following. The towns of Esparto, Capay, Brooks, Guinda & Rumsey are full of unique Country flavor. The first Capay Valley Almond Festival was held in 1915. Because the Almond Blossoms are such a beautiful sight to see, the festival takes place in February, when the blossoms are open. The Almond Festival has been held on the last Sunday of February for many years but now is moved to mid-March.

Entertainment, crafts, good food and fun for all members of the family are provided. It is a wonderful time to see the beauty of the whole Capay Valley and to meet many of the wonderful people who live and work in the area. We've had a lot of fun seeing the car show in Esparto after the pancake breakfast at the Esparto High School and then driving up to Rumsey for BBQ before winding our way through the valley out to the 5.
