I was just reading you location Elisha, and can I ask why it takes an hour and a half to go 50 miles? Are there a ton of intersections or something?

*edit: I am in no way trying to be an ass...I was just curious.

Make them be your butler for a year.
If they have no insurance they will get a hefty ticket, 'bout 300 clams. they are about to be even more broke now. good luck getting any green out of them. now your car ins might go up.
post some pics if you can.

thats a bummer pal

Elisha,

what parts do you need to replace, a bunch of Lone Star Cougar club members have a ton of spare parts. You're not that far from DFW...

good luck

Good luck in getting your car repaired by the person who doesn't have insurance. The same thing happened to my wife's car the other month. 15 year old with no license or insurance hit us. Did around $800 worth of damage. We've tried everything we can think of to get some part of the repair money short of small claims court.
Good luck,
AB

dont mess around

Trust me and some of us older motorheads go to the court house and file a small claims best money you will ever spend then have the judge make them pay the court not you and then the court will pay you. this will also cost them a fee on top and if they dont pay the court they go after them with a warrant dont play around. all they will try and do is delay them paying. Go to court. and to abarclay do the same you go after the parents.

terrible news..... It always sux to be part of an accident. Here in Ca, you get your license suspended and car rimpounded for no insurance.

Do you have uninsured motorist option on your insurance?
Its worth the extra few $/mo. Good luck. I say get a lawyer to write a simple letter to scare the piss out of them. Maybe they will pay up faster.

Crazycat - Here in CA, they send you a nice letter asking for proof of insurance. They give x days to produce and it does not have to go back to the date of the accident. In other words, you can have an accident uninsured, then go buy insurance and you are cool with the State of Californication (ask me how I know).
At least here in LA, the police won't even come out to an accident unless someone is hurt. Even if the other driver has no license, no registration, and no insurance:cry:

I had a similar thing happen. I couldn't get any cash out of them. I did happen across the bank his car was financed through though and let them know he had wrecked the car without insurance. I believe they called for the full ballance of the loan at that point. At least I made his life a little difficult for my troubles. I did actually get the money like 6 years later. My insurance company sued him.

Talk about Deja Vue!!

Elisha...I am so sorry to hear of your misfortune. Talk about Deja Vue.....I hope you are at least upright and able to walk after this ordeal.

When it happened to me the first time....I was flat on my back in traction for over 6 months. Not a fond or fun memory of my past....and then 15 years later it happened again :-(((

There must be something about having 6 feet of brightly lit brake lights staring these guys in the face that stuns them or something....like a deer in the headlights. I can't figure out how it's possible to miss the rear of a Cougar when fully stopped....just baffles me completely.

Anyway, I hope everything works out for you and that you get resolution to your insurance nightmare.

All the best....

No kidding!
I've been considering a third brake light mounted in the rear window like those found on new cars.

I hope everything works out for you Elisha. Take them to the cleaner if they don't make good on their payments to you.

How about the old stoplights on the early Dodge cars? They have STOP cut in them, so STOP lights up when you hit the brakes... pretty neat..

Or a license plate frame I saw yesterday, "Hit me, my kid is a lawyer"

The cat can be fixed if you are OK.

I'm an insurance agent and deal with about 1/2 of all claims being uninsured jerks.

I wory daily driving my eliminator. Can't put physical damage coverage on it until complete with resto and Apprasal done to establish value. I now have about $10,000 into it and have about 2 weeks and maybe $1,000 to go.

Good Luck- Take them to court (make life tough).

Elisha....a great source for replacement skin is Don Rush at West Coast Classic Cougars. I was down to his place a month or so ago and he has lots of replacement pieces. Good guy and fair prices.
