Ok, exhaust evacuation sounds indeed as a last resort. But I am still unclear what the differance is from taking vacuum from inside the aircleaner as opposed to (like on passenger side) to underside carb. Or does driver side going to the air cleaner not get any vacuum?

I think it equalizes the pressure from one side to the other better that way

Yeah I can't get that link to work right?? Supposed to be a pic of tube routing for PCV systems... you can get all kinds of them googling though

Installed the new PCV system on the driver side, I went with a closed breather with a tube to the underside of the aircleaner, almost looks stock lol





And best news is, NO more oil smell in the cabin, even under hard accelleration, succes!
I guess the only (small) downside to this system is a little oil contamination in the carb and about 1hp loss from the hotter air in the carb : )


Also, I finally found out my brakeboost was indeed defective. It did hold vacuum (as tested above) but found another guide witch stated when on vacuum if you press the brakepedal it should only drop about 10" tops. Mine dropped to 0" in an instant. So that concluded me to get a new one, see some pictures here from the install. It somehow seems I ended up with a booster that "needed some love" to get working since it had some differences with the original? I've read though that the booster with the clampring (wich mine had before) should be avoided but it seemed there were other differances as wel as you can see:

I also gave it a lick of paint






As you can see here, old one has an extra bracket, new one an extra stud (had to drill another hole in the firewall to get it in)


A seal around the pushrod on the rebuild unit


Just a hole on the old one


Some extra stuff on the front of the old one


New one in place


Anyway, after a few headaches I got it massaged in, had to loosen the distributionblock from the body to get enough clearance so I did not have to disconnect any brakelines.
But man, what a diffecance! Totally different car now, I thought my brakes were not that bad but feeling thos brakes now, it's almost like a modern car (except it locks up the tires, no abs ofc). I also adjusted the pushrod length since that was way out of sync out of the box (what is to be expected from a rebuild). Super happy I decided to get a new one.

Sounds like you have made great progress! Quite a bit of diff's between those 2 boosters in a side by side look.......

Glad to hear you got the brake problem sorted out. I'm getting ready to convert my 69 to power brakes. How much of a pain was it to get to those bolts on the booster under the dash? I was looking at mine and I gotta tell ya, I'm NOT looking forward to it :)

To be honest, a real pain in the you know what. If I were to do it a second time, I would definatly shorten those studs so I can atleast fit a socket on there. Had to do it with handwrench about 1/1000" turn at a time lol

Lol, just as I suspected. Glad I took the front seat out to clean up some wiring under the dash. I might invest in a set of box-end ratchets too :)
