Well, I'm not sure if this was caused by lastnight's reverse while driving, but today, out of nowhere, the speedo stopped working. It makes a ticking noise, and jumps 10MPH and goes back down, and repeats. I've taken it out, checked everything, the tranny gear is fine, cable fine, it has to be something in the speedometer. Does anyone have any ideas? They wan't $200 for a brand new one!! I could get an electronic AutoMeter for less than that!

Thanks

Chris

Sounds like the end of the cable is not seating properly in the head of the speedo or the corners on the end of the cable have wornd round and are spinning in the speedoe head

Actually, I fixed it. I just sprayed some silicon spray in the mechanism of the speedo, and it smoothed right out. The clicking noise was made when the moving part couldn't grab onto the speedo needle, so it would click, and go around again.
