I was attempting to remove and either replace or rebuild my power steering cylinder and got it all removed except the part that goes through what I am guessing is the center link. I have tried everything and accidentally mushroomed the threads on the bolt but it still won't budge. Does anyone have any other ideas or do I need to buy a new center link? Thanks in advance for any assistance. BTW the car is a 1968 J code with a T-5:confused:.

If it were me, I would split the nut off using an air chisel and then beat what's left of the stud until the releases from the center link. Yes, you probably do need another cylinder unless the threads can be repaired once you get it out (unlikely IMO).

Failing all of the above, you could buy another center link AND cylinder and be on your way...
