I finally have almost everything working in my 69 XR7 that I bought this spring. But every time I think I can take her down off the jack stands and get her out of the garage, something comes up. Oh the joys of older cars.

The rear sequential turn signals work great when the headlights are off - bright, sequenced properly, etc. But when I turn on the headlights, they slow down and are almost indistinguishable from the regular taillights. Ground problem?

I think I can help you. Open up the trunk and pull out one of the side marker bulbs, your lights now sequence even with headlights on?
Huh... Ok, so what causes that?

Do you have a multimeter? If yes, check battery voltage under both conditions and report back with the results. I'm thinking voltage regulator.

I'll give it a try when I get home tonight. I'll let you know what happens.

Then I'm going to replace the voltage regulator anyway. Less than $30 at the auto store, so why not.
