Ok, so these big wickedsweet pistons I have require the use of 5.155" rods.

Some cursory searching through the catalog showed the rod as a part for the Boss 302 and the 289.

My question is this:
How can the 289 and the Boss engine use the same rod? Does the boss have a weird compression height or something?

...been on the d/a sander all day. hands won't stop vibrating...

Ok, I'm off to find some 289 rods...

289 Hi Performance rods and Boss 2 rods are the same length but different part numbers.

You can also use 300 straight six rods. They are the same as the HiPo 289 rods and the same length as the Boss 302 rods. I found this out when researching the build of a long-rod 302 (same set up as a Boss 302)

So, what's the difference between the 289 and Boss rods, besides the part number of course.

The 300 six rods are a brilliant idea!
Thanks!
