I've been known to have the heaviest hand in the west...brute strength once again has laid waste to a perfectly good gasket...bent the rocker cover slightly too, I guess a good RTV dressing is in order. Is there a torque spec or just tighten them until their snug?

According to the book, 3-5 foot-pounds, with a retorquing after the gaskets have had time to compress. Probably best to use an inch-pound torque wrench, if you're so inclined. Me? Normally I just run them down til they're snug using my palm on the center of a 1/4" drive ratchet or better yet, use a nut driver (screwdriver handle-type) wrench. I put Allen head screws in mine, so I use a long Allen wrench. I can't torque that stubby leg too much, LOL!

thx man, I had torqued them to 8 ft Lbs and it broke the gasket, luckily ford parts are fairly cheap and the gasket only costs $10.
