what is involved in making a remote starter for my '68? Seems like years ago, a high school buddy of mine could get his Maverick to turn over by using a screw driver on the starter solenoid on the fenderwell.

You can buy one cheaper than you can make one, check e-bay or your local parts store. One wire clamps on + bat, and the other to the solenoid through a push button.

I do believe my first car, a 1950 Hudson, had a push button on the bottom of the solenoid that worked as a remote start button. I wonder if anyone still makes a solenoid like that?

I love mine! One of the best tools to help you have better control when tapping it around....Sears has a good one.
