Greetings everyone.....Im a returning enthusiast who has just rebult a 351w from a 69 xr7....motor has been installed , wires appropriately landed...it will/has turned over. 1). question is what r the various ways ( best! ) to approach firing orders/distributor? 2). Ive read and have been told to run the car for 15-20 mins @ an high rpm to break in cam( mild street cam - 30 over)? 3). have Ford shop manual and according to its schematics my stock two barrel emisson/vaccum lines should be routed a absoluttely different from how they were. Any help is appreciated..thanks

Welcome! I've always followed the run it like your gonna drive it break in rule...nothing fancy. Just be sure from this point forward you use oils that have zinc or ZDDP additives in them to protect your flat tappet valve trains. Modern off the shelf stuff won't cut it nowadays (except racing oils like VR1). It's not a bad idea to get a magnetic oil plug or filter trap to help with break in. As long as you used good asembly lubes just take it easy for awhile and let the rings find a good home. She should stop singing the blues after a few thousand miles.
