I have a 1970 mercury cougar just a base model 351w, auto trans, decor interior.Im wondering what was the name of the original shock struts in the back? mine are autopro their red is that original?

Originals would be black Autolite.

Not original. Original would be Ford, black and probably marked "Autolite" but I defer to the experts for the final word on what they are marked with.

Dave, Weren't some of the originals also Blue Autolite or was that just for the front shocks?
