Sorry for such a trivial question but when I was replacing the rear seat belts in my 69 xXR7 vert I noticed the screws/bolts that hold the lower section of the seat back were both missing~! Are these supposed to be bolts (if so what size as holes appear small) or sheet metal screws. Thanks for any insight.

Thanks.... I just located in the service manual a picture and they do appear to be sheet metal screws.

They are a sheet metal screw with a wide thread an relatively large washer to hold the the seatback in place. Often times, the hole into which they are threaded is slightly stripped. Tapping the hole down a little with a Ball hammer tends to give the threads more to bite.

Nice tip with the hammer.... just might do that.... headed to the hardware store to find suitable hardware to fill the voids!
