Rear wheel wells on a 68 XR7, They are supposed to be blacked out. Now was this done before body color or after? Should there be black overspray under car and on frame rails or was this taped off? Wouldn't think the factory would have took the time to tape stuff off. Also when the rockers and pinch welds were painted black was there black overspray under car?
On the floor pans there are two water drains. These were installed after paint and were not painted or primered. What color was the sealant they used on these? Thanks. Trying for a concourse restoration so all help is appreciated. Harv

Rear wheel wells were blacked out (with some feathering toward the edge of the well by the frame rail) before body color, and some body-colored overspray is OK in the wells, desirable even. Black overspray from the pinch weld black out (light colored cars only) is also in evidence on the frame rails. Floor pan plugs - I'd say black seam sealer, like everywhere else.

Ok so no taped off areas. That will simplify things. And I guess a lot of cosmolien for the soundproffing and undercoating such as the tunnel and wheel wells and some in the trunk on the sides of the wells?
