I have recently changed the battery in my key remote and now it doesn't work!!! I have followed all instructions in the manual to no avail! I took it to a dealership who wishes me to leave it there for three hours and pay £60 to re-program it.

Does anyone know how to avaiod this payment as it is in my view too expensive for a small service. I would be very grateful if someone could help me

Ummm... What kind of car? I assume a newer cougar. If you changed the battery because the remote wasn't working, and it still doesn't work, then I'd suggest that the remote itself is dead. It happens.
