Thanks again for the help, now on to part 2. I turned the key to ON and ACC, and the light did illumniate in the P position. However when I moved the floor shifter to Drive/Neutral/Low, there wasn't any light.

Does the motor have to be running for the shifter light to work in N/D/L ???

For reasons to lengthy to explain, I couldn't start the engine.

Once again, thanks in advance

No? - sounds like moving the shifter is breaking connectivity somehow....you must have a loose wire connection or maybe broke wire....see if you can get the light to go out while wiggling the wires.....

It was the rod, not broken, just came lose, and I had just installed, so I didn't think that was the problem, no problem now, it's on for good!
