Drove 69 Eliminator to work yeasterday for fisrt time and had power stering dipstick pop up. This blew fluid over fender well and exhost manifold. Made a lot of smoke (made me think someting bad was going on). The dip stick seems tight in unit but some previous owner has wound plastic around top of dip stick so I thing it has done this before.

Suggestions please.

sounds like blockage or overfull. Do a system drain, and then flush it, is any lines kinked (the metal lines going into the control valve?) New lines are available at autoparts stores. Good luck.

Did you bleed the system when you put the fluid in ? If it is filled to the proper level, the only thing that would make it pop would be the presence of air trapped in the system.

Problem Solved

Thanks everyone,

Control valve lines were fine. Took it out again ran up to 4500 RPM and it stayed down- I believe it was over filled.
