Do you get alot of double takes as you drive around town? I remmeber traveling through France a couple years back, not a single Cougar(or an American car for that matter) on any road.

DSO

A DSO of 84 is a Home Office Reserve. They were Mercury Executive cars, movie or TV cars, magazine test cars or some other special purpose. Is there anything unusual about your options? Was it very early in the production run?

Here's the breakdown on your numbers:

9F92S547970
76A 6 2A 07B 84 6 U
Model Year: 1969
Assembly Plant: Dearborn, Michigan
Body Style: Convertible
Engine Model: 390-4V
Sequential Number: 47970
Body Style: Convertible
Exterior Color: Bright Blue Metallic
Interior Trim: Charcoal Black Corinthian Vinyl & Charcoal Black Levant Pattern Vinyl
Scheduled Mfg. Date: FEBRUARY 07
District Sales Office: Home Office Reserve
Differential type/Ratio: 3.00 Non-Locking
Transmition Model: C-6 Automatic

2A is the interior trim (above)
6 is the axle ratio (above)

I think February 7 is probably too late to be a show car, nearly half of the 1969 Cougars were already produced by then. Lois
( she by the way) Eminger probably won't help to decypher the original intent or use of your car.

Nice car regardless! You can't beat a big block Cougar convertible!
