I was scraping the old oil pan gasket off the engine tonight, when the oil pump tube screen (not sure of it's tech. name) caught my eye. The space between the screen and the metal bracket on the bottom was FULL of broken up pieces of, well, something. Most of the material is plastic, black, and I found a peice with the letter "F" printed on it. Plus there were some red peices of plastic, and a lot of gunk, etc. I cleaned everything out. Should I be worried about what I found?

Thanks,
Brian

id guess either timing chain pieces or even the valve seal thingies. i took my valve cover off once and saw chunks of stuff there before. maybe some old silicone gasket maker too by chance? maybe some red hot chee-tos.

Hey, it's the Improv forum....
Just kidding.

The answer I was looking for was, "don't worry about it, the junk was probably just something that someone dropped in there 25 years ago. It'll be fine." Oh well.

:D

Thanks for the ideas about where it came from!
