Has anyone ever installed an aftermarket oil pressure gauge in their standard Cougar? If so which type, electrical or mechanical? If electrical how was the sender hooked up and did you keep your idiot light? Thinking of maybe using one in my Cougar as I much prefer a gauge over a light.

I had a 2 5/8" mechanical gauge in place of my clock delete. The dash pad almost fit over it.

The NHRA rules say you can't have a plastic line in the passenger compartment. You can run copper or stainless steel flex.

I bought an oil pressure sending unit extension and put a T at the end in order to use the light and the gauge.

I decided to go electrical. I can do both just like in my 65 F100 which has both. One simply needs the oil sending unit adapter that Ford used in their trucks back in the days. It holds both the sender for the idiot light and the sender for the gauge giving you both at the same time.
