I realize this may not be the perfect place for this, but I am hoping for maximum exposure.

Story:

I have replaced the 289 in my 67 cougar with a warmed over 429.
I used my own mounts and stock exhaust manifolds. It turned out nice.
My underhood space is now at a premium.

I have a carter AFB on my setup, and it runs good.
I think it could be better.

I want to try a thermo-quad.

Wanted:

In 74 ford used a thermo-quad on some of the 460s. I need an intake manifold for that setup. I have looked and searched for this piece, and cannot find one. I am told it was california only.

I am hoping that someone in the community can help me locate one.
I will compensate that person for their time with a finder's fee of $50.00.

Can someone here help a fellow cougar owner out? Please.

I thought thermo's were a Mopar carb - aren't they typically a square bore one as well? I don't recall my Mop's having spreadbore anyways but it's been awhile... My camper was a 74 with a 460 in it, but it was a 2v. What vehicles are most likely to have it I wonder? Problem is when steel prices got high the yards crushed a lot of them....pickins are slim nowadays

Try using searchtempest and do a nationwide search for on cl every now and then, surely one will kick up.

I have tried searchtempest, ebay, and a few forums.

The thermo-quad is a spreadbore carb, just like the Q-Jet.

Gack! Why would would you dream of running a TQ? :) You could run the adapter from Holley to TQ/QJ if you don't mind the extra height. I like the AFB but never could get it to make the HP of the Holley...curious to know your reasons on the TQ.

Cause I'm crazy. Or so you might think.

Can't use an adapter, don't have the room.

AFB does alright. Want to try the TQ, looking for excellent driveability.

I saw one the other day. I thought that someone had put a Carter on the engine in the aftermarket.

Sitting in the Pick and Pull in Fresno California. 1974 Mercury.
