On the photo attached you all can see my console as it is now.
Under the stick there is a white plastic "thing".
I know something is missing , but what ?
Perhaps someone knows.

There should be a black plastic thing. Maybe you could paint the white one? Reproductions are available in black from the usual vendors.

I bought an aftermarket replacement for my 67...it's really just
1\16 inch black plastic stock. Don't know how much it would cost you to order one from this side of the Atlantic but you can probably make one easy.

Guess you´re right, It will easier, and cheaper, to make a new one.
