What's the widest tire that will fit the rear of a '67 Cougar? I'm currently running P235/60R15 BFG Drag Radials which have an 8" tread width and a 9.5" section width. I'm due for tires (these have gone up in smoke) and really need something wider as the car is traction-limited. Has anybody used P275/50R15 radials on a '67 or'68 Cougar? Jeg's catalog says these will fit a 7" rim, which is what I have(3 1/2" backspacing). At the track I run a 1.8-something 60-ft. time with a best E.T. of 12.85 at 106 MPH (289, 4 speed, 4.56 gears). A friend has a 455 powered 442 Olds that runs 12.6's, maybe one 12.50, and I wouldn't mind showing him some Cougar taillights. Thanks for your help! Allan

1967-1968 Mustang and Cougar

18-inch: 18x8 with 4-1/2-inch back-spacing and 245/40 tires front and rear for 1967-1968; 1969-1970 can use 18x9 with 5-1/2-inch backspacing and 265/35 tires on the rear.
