Yeah, Chroming the brace (Single piece in 69/70) is in the plans... For some day that is. First order of business is getting the engine to motivate the car into the low 12's...

Having run both MSD and Pertronix, the MSD setup is hands down more powerful than the Pertronix, but you pay for the power. Between the dist, box, coil and wires, it's over $500 worth of ignition stuff, but worth every penny if you're running much more than a stock cam...

Distributor makes a big difference IMHO. The stock unit is woefully insufficient for any performance app.

cmpcpro,

We use a stock Duraspark (Ford electronic ignition) distributor to trigger our MSD units in our cars. All you really need is the electronic pickup to generate the signal to the MSD box. You don't even need the Ford ignition module since the MSD is used for that. An aftermarket distributor is kind of a waste if that's all you're going to use it for.

Duraspark distributors are avalable for just about any modern Ford engine family. Not too sure about FEs though, maybe Ford trucks after 1975? Small blocks all use one size, although 351Ws are a bit different since the oil pump driveshaft is bigger than normal smallblock, 5/16" vs 1/4", so the shaft is different. 351Cleveland/351M/400/429/460 all use the same distributor as well. That gives you a bunch of junkyard opportunities for a cheap electronic distributor!
