I got my sending unit from mustangs unlimited. It sounds like you may be able to get away with just getting a new o-ring, and maybe a new lock ring. - Chad

Believe it or not, I had the sending unit (and tank pickup) plate rust through on my 85 Turbo Coupe. It was only 8 years old at the time. What a PITA that was. The pickup plate was on the top of the tank (fortunately) Still, anything more than 1/2 tank and I'd get sloshing out of the rust holes.

Sounds like you might have the same problem.
