Is there any way I can test the evaporator (forced air or water thru one end?) off the car? Same for the condenser and dryer? All the parts are original, and have read that the dryer is best replaced, but... Eric.

Depends on what condition you want to test it for. If you want to see if water or air will flow through it then yes, if you want to know if it will work as part of an a/c unit then no.

NEVER run water thru any part of an AC unit. You can use low pressure air ,nitrogen would be better. Plug on end, put air in the other and listen for leaks. Replace the drier
