Hey Folks,

Could someone re-post how many 71 Cougar GTs were made and if its known how many 351s & 429s. Did they all have a hood scoop?

There is a person wanting to join our Ford club claiming to have one. Just curious.

Thanks!

According to CBTNs, there were a total of 787 '71 GT's. Here's a link on info on the GT's: www.cougarclub.org/registry/Cougars101/gt.aspx ,just scroll down. Sorry, I don't have info on the breakdown of engine production for the GT's. John

I don't know about the numbers, but there was a guy in a AL I believe who posted a blue '71 Cougar GT on this site several times. It did not seem to attract much interest.

All GT's, like the 69-70 Eliminators have a scoop!

There was also a 72 GT - Last time Phil Parcells and I discused it there were two on the data base.

Thanks everyone for the info. I had no idea that many 429 Cougars were built. Now did SCJ or drag pak apply to 71s?

An XR7 hardtop with a landau roof, 429 C code, auto, 3.5 locking, air, 8 track would make the ultimate sleeper.

There were exactly Zero 429 Super Cobra Jet Cougars in 1971.

3.25 was required with A/C - You would have had to go to the Ford Power parts catalog and create you SCJ cougar over the parts counter.
