My 1973 XR7 had no bulb in the Engine compartment socket. The socket appeared to be spliced in, so not sure if it was OEM. I put a new phillips #89 LL bulb in and it came on right away. I cannot figure how to shut it off. Was the original socket a mercury type- automatic on with open hood maybe, or is there a cab mounted switch I have overlooked?

I have never had a 73 but, all my other cougars have had a switch in the hood. Close it most of the way and peak in there.

Of course it would be a Mercury switch cause a Dodge switch just wouldn't do... LMAO... Sorry couldn't resist....🤣🤣
