Does anyone know why when i'm running a double pumper the vacuum advance nipple on the metering block works fine like ported vacuum is supposed to. but when I use a vacuum secondary carb the afore mentioned nipple is pulling vacuum at idle, which in turn is screwing up the timing and idle?

Ported Vacuum

It sounds like you've got just a little too much throttle angle in on the VS. The metering blocks can be interchanged on the primary and you wouldn't see a difference. Calibration differs with various carbs but the passages don't.
