ok,
I am cluless when it comes to checking/adjusting my timing. any "special tools" needed, and/or is there a posting or article that can help? appreciate the feed back

Jebbster - Check out this link. They have a lot of useful info. http://www.centuryperformance.com/timing.htm You may want to invest in a Chiltons or Motor's Manual for your particular car as well. It has the specific data required such as settings, diagrams of timing marks, firing order, etc. (Stay away from the Haynes manuals - they aren't even good to start a fire.)
