So i have recently bought my first cougar. It is a 68 with a 351w and a 3 spd manual. Im looking for some full length headers for it but am concerned about the tight fit from the wheel wells and the clutch linkage. So I'm curious if anyone has done this before that could give some insight.

3 spd? Huh....you sure 4th ain't just broken! LOL Manual and AT's take a different set of headers due to the Z-bar on manuals getting in the way. JBA and Hooker are the most popular for the cats I think, but what trans do you have exactly..?

Mine is a 68 with a 351w and I was able to use the same headers for both the c4 and the 3 speed toploader. They are Headman headers and are specific to the engine swap. Its a "joy" to get the Z bar through the headers but works perfectly once you do. Remove the bolts attaching the Zbar to the frame, work the Zbar into the engine pivot through the installed header and reinstall the 2 bolts into the frame mount. All linkage clears with zero problems.
