hello all, I am in the process of gathering all the necessary parts for swapping out my worn out 289/ c-4 with a nice 351w/ AOD. The question I have (one of many) it to those that have done this swap before, is what headers did you use?

I have been looking at a few options

Hopefully someone with some experience can chime in…Thanks

this would be in a 68 standard with power steering and power disk brakes.

Blue68cat, My concern with going with the long tube headers would be if they will clear the wider AOD transmission?

I used Hedman Long Tubes for a 69 Cougar with a 351. But I'm running a C6. The collectors hit the trans. But it wasn't anything big. I used a porta power (portable hydraulic press) to slightly bend them out of the way and they fit fine after that. They've been on the car since 1994.

Got the hedman 88650 installed with little trouble. They fit the engine and transmission with just a little rub on the engine but not enough to be an issue. Installing them once the motor was in the car was easy besides tightening a few bolts. I had to get creative with a few bolts.
They cleared the AOD and the PS
